20 Actresses I'd Watch Anytime

The distaff side of the equation:

Annette Bening
Seemed to come out of nowhere 20 years ago and she never looked back.

Ingrid Bergman
Quite possibly the most beautiful creature ever photographed.

Juliette Binoche
They stick her in ugly orange hoodies (Summer Hours) and grubby parkas (Paris) but she still shines through.

Penélope Cruz
Dominates any movie she’s in

Viola Davis
Got her big break in The Help, but Viola’s been making interesting characters out of nothing for years.

Judi Dench
She has a wonderful way of making the time go by.

Catherine Deneuve
A force of nature

Emilie Dequenne
Hey Dardennes...how about a Rosetta sequel?

Joan Fontaine
Rebecca alone qualifies her.

Charlotte Gainsbourg
Brings an honest, earthy element to every role.

Greer Garson
Beautiful inside too. She did lots of work for charity and helped many young actors.

Martina Gedeck
Viel Talent und Schönheit in einer Seele!

Christina Hendricks
How the Mad Men got that way.

Katherine Hepburn
Kate’s motto: "If you always do what interests you, at least one person is pleased."

Isabelle Huppert
The matron saint of versatility.

Irene Jacob
Proof that the divine walk among us. Too bad Kieslowski was the only director that knew how to use her.

Carey Mulligan
Unfailingly fascinating. Her new film Inside Llewyn Davis looks good.

Julie Newmar
Betwixt mine eye and heart a league is took,
And each doth good turns now unto the other

Lea Seydoux
The future of French cinema

Kristin Scott Thomas
Keeps a jammed schedule, yet brings something special to every role. I don’t know how she does it.

You beat me to it! I started gathering photos yesterday.

Your list is a lot more modern than mine will be, though we will have some overlap.

Ever heard of letterboxd? If you're interested I can send you an invite. http://letterboxd.com/retrohound/

I'll tell ya R.H, it sure is a chore finding pictures of these beautiful women. It took me a really really long time :)

I beg to differ: Oliver Parker did a smashing job with Irene Jacob in "Othello". Then again, making out with Laurence Fishburne (during that particular movie) would make anyone's acting luscious.

You asked about my camera, on my blog: It's a Canon EOS Rebel T3, to be exact.

You hit my buttons exactly with Bergman, Binoche, Dench, Hendricks, Hepburn, and Jacob.

I don't like Penelope Cruz. Can't pinpoint it exactly. Too much like Keira Knightly, maybe. Both of them screwed up Pirates of the Caribbean for me, lucky thing Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom were there to save me.

Additions I would make to your list:

* Angelina Jolie
* Maggie Smith
* Meryl Streep
* Julia Ormond
* Kate Winslet
* Julia Roberts
* Rosalind Russell
* Gene Tierney
* Rita Hayworth
* Lana Turner
* Barbara Stanwyck
* Jessica Lange

(I know, I know... make my own list II)

Marchie: I'll have to check out Othello, it's about the only readily available Irene I haven't seen, (Yes, even US Marshalls,,,yuck)

Thanks for camera info, I need to get something decent,

I don't have a prob w/ anyone on your list. Smith, Streep, Hayworth, Stanwyck and Lange all came within a hair of making mine. I find Jolie, Winslett and Roberts a little annoying for some reason :)
